It was my first day in France. The flight was long and the six hour time change didn’t help, but it was totally worth the trouble. A solid 12 hours after a layover in New Jersey, I arrived with my mom in France. We made it to the Airbnb that was hosted by a young man that worked with the airlines, we took a short nap and started off our afternoon.
On the corner of each block there was a cafe or a bakery. The streets were full of fashion forward and relaxed people. Motorbikes and cars traveled hurriedly on the narrow roads. The Airbnb was in a more residential area in the 19th ARR. (arrondissement) near the one of the larger parks in Paris. People were taking breaks under the limited shade of the trees in the park. A few young adults scrambled to sit under a tree to eat and study. Slowly my mom and I walked down the path until we came to an exit.
Stepping out of the park across the street was a lovely flower shop. There were beautiful roses and multiple other flowers that had quite different names, looking back it may have been because they were all in french, but pretty nonetheless. We took pictures of every sight, but only a slim few times did we catch that true beauty of the buildings, food, culture, and people.
The buildings all had the same design and colors. The yellow white buildings that had small awnings at every long glass door. The people with their cigarettes socializing with one another as they walk by. Their words flying as if they were birds over head entering and exiting my mind with no understanding. A gorgeous and proper language. After our excursion we headed back sat in the hot flat and slept for as long as possible.

My time in Paris was an amazing experience. Through the three short days my mom and I used our time to pack a lot of stuff in. Using the mornings to enjoy the park near where we were staying. We visited the Louvre Museum, The Eiffel Tower, the Arch de Triomphe, Sacré-Cœur, Sainte-Chapelle, Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris, Cháteau de Versailles, and Pont Notre- Dame.
One highlight of my trip is when we visited the Eiffel tower. It was a perfect time to see the tower glow. We had tickets for 23:00 so we got to see the sunset at the bottom of the tower. The Eiffel tower was amazing and had an even more amazing view from the top. At the top, my mom and I ran into a hilarious, cordial New Yorker. The memories I made in Paris this past summer was definitely worth the smoking hot weather.
